First of all, my belly is BIG!!! Our baby girl is over 6 lbs now and I've been getting Braxton Hicks contractions. I'm working another week even though it's getting harder and harder to find the energy to make it in to the office. I went swimming a couple of weeks ago in our pool and I snapped this photo of my bump (well, it's more like a hill or mountain now - LOL!)
Which leads me to vent about pregnancy etiquette and the idiots out there who lack common sense, tact or sensitivity... (I bet you have come across these folks, too!) Sorry, but I need to get this off my chest!
Who gives people the right to come and feel up your belly when you don't really know them? (Ever heard of personal space, sir!?)
Oh, and the woman in the salon or the one at Target or my husband's family... (yep, there's been a few) who come up and ask, "How many babies are in there?", "Are you having twins?", "Are you sure it's not two or three?" (Last time, I responded that it's probably more like 6 babies, but I had lost count.)
"I'm sure you're not going to make it till the end - you're just wayyyyy too big!!!"
"Your boobs look so small now that your belly is so big."
And the trophy winner by far...
"Wow... you're so big you look like a submarine!"
It got to the point where I actually asked the doctor, "Is my belly too big? Is my baby too big? People are saying all this..." She says my belly is measuring a week or two ahead in size but that it's perfectly normal and that I should tell people that if they don't have anything nice to say, then they shouldn't say anything at all. So SCREW OFF PEOPLE!
OK, I feel better now that I shared my frustration! :) Now on to happier things...
My honey bunny and his uncle put together all the baby furniture a couple of weekends ago - here's a sneak peek!
Then my BFF (what would I EVER do without her???) helped me organize, decorate and wash baby clothes. She is truly heaven-sent :) I still have a few more things to do, but I will share photos of the nursery one day soon. It brought tears to my eyes when I first walked in there...
My aunt Mae and step dad, Jorge, came by to visit yesterday and they LOVED the baby's room :) It was so nice to see them and spend some quality time together. Jorge even brought me yellow roses - my favorite!
I'll be back soon - I may even have a layout to share. WOW!

Well said. Yes, people are cruel. Severe gas to those people. I think its beautiful. Love the room. Can't wait to see it completed. God Bless!
I think you look cute and can't wait to see pictures of your little one. =)
Every mom gets these comments by this point. One year ago I was 3 days past my due date and started getting the "How far dilated are you" and "When are you being induced" questions...as well as how many were in there. Eventually I just told people "I'm just fat". They usually don't know what to say after that.
Great belly shot!
HAHAHA!!! I have cracked up laughing all by myself (awkward). Anyways Vanessa, I personally think you look great;) And yes, some people are just stupid and lack common sense. I'm sure all us mommies can share dozens of inappropriate comments shared by the darlings that surrounded us during our pregnancies. You're almost at the finish line so just hang in there a teensy bit longer. Love ya!
Sad to say that moms get those remarks at some point of our pregnancies... So sorry you are subjected to such hurtful comments. Don't mind them... What matters is you feel good and baby Grace is doing great. Before you know it, you'll be in the delivery room holding her in your arms. :-) Can't wait to see photos of her! And that peek of the nursery room leaves me wanting to see more. You take care now, rest as much as you can, and you look great! Anyone who says otherwise, send them my way and I'll give them an earful! ;-D
OMG!!!!!!! How on earth did I not know you were pregnant? I want to cry... I miss you all so much and I can't believe I missed your baby bump and all *weeps*
I totally know what you're talking about, but who gives a f@#%? Enjoy this time and ignore them all.
I want to cryyyyy!
Love you <3
I'm really impressed you haven't yelled at Mr. touchy feely. I love the room. It's beautiful. I've loved sharing every moment with you.
This is so funny cause I just got one today (I am 32 weeks). I was at a store and the worker was also pregnant. She's due 1 month earlier than I am. She was pretty tiny, and just all belly. We talked a bit and her coworker said to me "Yeah look at her...her belly is sticking straight out. Yours is so "round" it goes all the way around your body". I rubbed the front part of my stomach and said, yeah, this is the baby, then i smacked my thighs and butt and said "and this is the ice cream".
Oh pregnancy etiquette! I had several episodes with people...no one seems to remember "personal space" as soon as they see a baby bump I tell ya!!! Many people caught me off guard, and many upset me and it was not pretty. But after all I now laugh LOL. Enjoy your bundle of joy!
