My latest acrylic mini album...

Hi my scrappy friends,

It's late, but I had to stay up and finish my D. Reeves acrylic album (yes, scrapbooking is addictive and may even deprive you of some much-needed sleep!) from my August Cocoa Daisy kit... Kristina Contes rocks! She selected this album as one of her favorite products to include in the kit and I have had so much fun playing with it! It was pretty easy to put together and now I want another one! LOL!

This album is about Atlanta. This city has played an important part of my life during the past year. In 2006, my DH and I sold our house in Miami that we had rented and decided to invest outside of Florida. Well, after some research, he decided that Atlanta was the place to buy and so our adventure began. We have made numerous weekend trips to look at different areas, see model homes, decide on a house (or two) and eventually close and rent the homes. All that took one year! I love our houses in Atlanta and I wish we had one that pretty here in Miami! :-) Of course, in between the personal business we were taking care of, we also made time to see some of Atlanta's attractions and we've had fun in the process.

Take a look at my mini and let me know what you think!!! Here's a sneak peek, but you can see the entire album in my Scrap in Style TV gallery.

Good night and thanks for visiting my blog! I love reading your comments and being inspired by all of the talent out there.

CONGRATS to my scrappy friends!

The Work In Progress Design Team was just announced today and I just want to say CONGRATS to my very talented scrappy friends, Anilu and Ivette!!!

I'm so excited for you both!!! Wow, you're good at keeping secrets, but I suspected :-) I can't wait to see what you create with these delicious kits... I just love all the pages you gals put together!

I'm also happy to announce that I received an Honorable Mention from Trish at Work In Progress. It was my very first time answering a DT call, so I think that's pretty good! Yeah for me!

Hugs to all and happy scrapping!

Happy Monday!

OK, so Monday isn't exactly my fave day of the week, BUT there's lots for me to share with you today.

On Saturday, I was at Ivette's house in Aventura and we got to scrap. We also had lots of fun doing a Round Robin layout... All the pages came out great! This is my LO. I started with the background paper, and all I did was adhere the photos and the clouds...well, this is what I got when it finished going around to everyone! I love it! Thanks, girls!

I took photos of everyone so that I can make a little mini album to celebrate my scrappy friends...I'm going to add a photo of my wonderful friend and shameless enabler, Damaris, who got my BFF and I into scrapping in the first place, as well as my dear friend Rena, who I always have lots of fun with, and my mini will be complete. Here are the photos from Saturday!

I also completed this LO, which is kind of a long story, but my DH got a good laugh out of it...

And...finally...on Sunday we celebrated my FIL's birthday on Miami Beach. He turned 69 years old and here's a cute pic of him and my MIL...He was laughing cause the numbers on the cake looked like "96" instead of "69"...We had a good time and it turned out to be a beautiful day!

That's all for now. Thanks to all of you for stopping by my blog! :-) It means a lot to me to have such wonderful friends who share this passion.

Today was a good day...

I haven't blogged in a few days because I wasn't feeling well the last couple of nights, but I'm better now. :-) I'm just tired. It's been a looong day, BUT it was a great Saturday.

I got to see Anilu, Barb, Lou, Esther, Ivette and Ady in Aventura and we had lots of fun scrapping away... I'll share some of today's work, including an awesome challenge we did, tomorrow... Right now, I'm just too tired to download the pics off of my camera.

Meanwhile, here is one of my latest creations. I love the way this 6x12 page came out with the cork paper and my index prints... I used Cocoa Daisy's Aug kit, which is just awesome!

Today was my friend Jeanie's birthday and we celebrated with some delicious food and some great company at her house. She is the best hostess ever! We talked about thongs, sex, co-workers, and more (not all at the same time)! She made the yummiest food, including brie with honey and almonds, crab cakes, potato skins, chicken with tzatziki sauce, basmati rice, broccoli and cheese bake, pork and baked beans, and the best margaritas! This is the birthday card I made for her...

That's all for now... Enjoy the rest of your weekend and happy scrapping!

Where do I begin???

"Scrapbooking is personal. It’s about opening up and sharing your own life. It makes us human. It makes us reflect on who we are and where we want to be in life. It helps us discover the beauty (the art) in the midst of our life, and the life in the midst of our art." -Ali Edwards

This is a photo of my beautiful little Mami that I took yesterday. She's holding her little doll that Papi gave her. It was the last gift he ever bought for her right after Easter and she loves it. He passed away in 1996. I miss him dearly! I brought her doll over so that she would feel at home in my house. What a blessing to have been raised by these two loving parents...

I just saw the sneak peek of Life Artist, Ali Edwards' new book, and I MUST have it! Ali does a great job of helping you look at life in a different way. She inspires you and helps you celebrate the everyday. Look at this sample page.

I'm having so much fun with my August Cocoa Daisy kit!!! I love all the goodies in it... Here's a peek at a couple of my layouts...You can see more here.

Oh, but wait, there's more! Have you seen this beauty? It's the sneak peek of the September Cocoa Daisy kit and the guest designer is the talented Jamie Waters. I LOVE it!

Hugs to all and happy scrappin!

I ordered my trestle desk....finally!

Good morning my friends,

I'm sooo excited! I finally ordered my Trestle Desk from Target that I've wanted for a long time. This is going to be my new scrappy table and it's huge so I love it. It will even fit my Clip It Up! whenever I get that, too! LOL! Yeah for me!

Last night, I visited my BFF and we talked scrappy stuff till 1 am. She's making a b-day album that's full of Cocoa Daisy goodies and lots of inspiration.

We also went to Damaris' house together and shopped away! Damaris has lots of goodies that she sells from top companies like Heidi Swapp, Hambly, 7Gypsies, American Crafts and more! How fun was that! I got some delicious stuff to add to my stash. Have a wonderful weekend and I will share some of my new scrappy creations soon!

I'm picking up my Mami now to take care of her this weekend so I gotta' go. She's 81 and hasn't been doing well so we take turns caring for her to help my Titi Mae out as much as we can...

I'll be praying for our Caribbean friends, especially in Jamaica, now that Hurricane Dean is threatening the islands as a very strong Category 4 or 5 storm...

Peace to all!

De-stressing with my new kit...

I'm in the midst of compiling 2008 budgets, capital expenditures, etc., so I have numbers coming out of my ears! When I got home from work today at about 7:45 pm, I needed to de-stress. After having dinner with my DH, I sat down and starting looking at my August Cocoa Daisy kit and I was instantly inspired. This has got to be one of my all-time favorites. I have so many plans for this kit. I just wish there were more hours in the day cause I cannot keep staying up so late to scrap. LOL! This is the first page I created. I hope to keep playing with it for a while and I'm going to make a mini with my d. reeves acrylic album so stay tuned! Did I mention how much I just LOVE Cocoa Daisy? Their kits are great and Tricia is so wonderful. I can't recommend them enough!

Also, I have this beauty coming from Work in Progress... How cool is this?! I immediately got on the pre-order list when I found out that Jamie Waters was the guest designer and I knew it was featuring Scenic Route. Plus, Trish does a great job of putting together fabulous goodies each month! Yeah for me! Now I just need lots more time to do it all!

Finally, my friend Anilu announced today that she will be on the Cupcake Scrapshop design team. CONGRATS Anilu! I can't wait to see what you create. Your talent speaks for itself!

Happy scrapping!

Back home from Atlanta

My DH and I got back from Atlanta at 4 am this morning, slept a little and went to work. It took us 11 hours to drive home. Of course, we made a couple of stops, and ate dinner at Sonny's BBQ on the way home. There was some pretty bad weather, with an electrical storm, so that delayed us a bit. Our trip was productive so we're very happy, but it was exhausting.

We arrived at our house in Atlanta on Saturday at 5 am. When we entered the home, the Realtor had turned on the heater!!!! It was close to 100 degrees in there and we just couldn't get the upstairs bedrooms to cool down fast enough. Almost immediately I got sick and dizzy so we had to leave to a hotel at 6 am. That was a good decision because we got to rest in a comfy bed. Anyway, we rented the house so all is good. And on Sat. night we got to eat at McKinnon's Louisiane Restaurant in Buckhead, our favorite! We go there every single time we visit the city and the owner already knows who we are. He even remembers that Richard drinks rum and Coke. You can't beat the service and attention we get when we go there.

I kept myself entertained in the car by reading Ali Edwards' book, A Designer's Eye for Scrapbooking with Patterned Paper. I won it at CKC-Ft. Lauderdale. Love it! It has some very cool layout ideas for mixing up patterned papers, some of which I wouldn't have thought about doing myself. I especially enjoyed seeing the layouts by Ali and Jamie Waters. Cool book. Ali rocks. I can't wait for her new book to be available!

I'm absolutely drooling over my Aug. kit from Cocoa Daisy. Tricia from CD is just so great and this has to be one of my all-time favorite kits. I just LOVE Kristina Contes. I can't wait to play with it in the next couple of weeks...and I'm dying to create my d. reeves acrylic album that came in the kit. Yippee!!!! Ali created a version of it, too, and it gave me some cool ideas. I'm definitely wanting a Polaroid camera now to expand my creativity.

Peace and happy scrappin!

More Cocoa Daisy Fun!!!!

Here's another layout I created using Cocoa Daisy's July kit. It's so bright and colorful that you just can't go wrong. I entered it into CD's contest, as well as the OLW Challenge.

On Tuesday night, I made this simple birthday card for one of my employees because she's awesome and I wanted to create something fun for her. We gave it to her with a beautiful locket from Etsy. I think she really liked her gift!

That's all for now, my friends. Tomorrow I'm off to Atlanta with my DH. It's a 12-hour drive so that should be fun. I'm taking my Ali Edwards book (A Designer's Eye, Part II) and some mags to help make the time go by quickly. That worked perfectly last time! I think I read three magazines cover to cover by the time we arrived. LOL! I'll be back in a couple of days...

Happy scrappin! :-)

Cocoa Daisy's July Kit

I went to the gym and that must have gotten my mojo going because I created these two layouts tonight using Cocoa Daisy's July kit. I am really happy with both of them. It was lots of fun! I just love all the goodies in this kit. I also entered the DareJack and Pencil Lines' contests today. Whoohoo!

Check these out and tell me what you think...

Heidi Swapp Madness!

Hi my friends!

I've had a great weekend! On Friday night, I got to go out with my DH. On Saturday, I got my Heidi Swapp playing cards and lots of other goodies at Damaris' house. She taught a morning class to help give us ideas on how to use the playing cards. This is one of the layouts I started at her house (with pockets behind the cards) and then I added my own extras over the weekend.

Saturday afternoon, we celebrated Roxana's (my sister-in-law) b-day at my in-laws' house. I love her! She's the best. We had lots of fun with her and her girlfriend, Kinsell. Last night, my DH and I went to watch The Simpson's Movie. It was funny, but I was really too tired to enjoy it!

Today, we visited family again and I also got to scrapbook with all my very cool HS stuff. Did I mention that I love HS? Here are three layouts I made today, including a scraplift of the playing cards from the Scrapbook.com gallery...I also created a LO of my Mom using the HS ghost butterflies. I've been thinking about her a lot and I wanted to create a colorful page to celebrate her personality.

My Scrappy Life

I've been working till pretty late each day and I finally decided to leave work today at a reasonable hour (6 pm), all because I had a headache. Well, my DH calls me while I'm headed home to tell me he has "bad news." Guess what? He lost his keys and cannot leave his office! He calls his busines partner to see if they were in his car...not there. He calls the restaurant where they had lunch today...not there. Soooo I have to drive home, get his spare keys, and then drive to Broward to give him the keys so he can drive home. Oh, and then he decides to return to the restaurant where he thought he had left them, and there they were. The manager is a moron. (So much for leaving early!)

The story doesn't end there. I tell my DH he owes me dinner. We decide on something quick and easy. Arby's. I ask him for a Reuben sandwich. He brings me back a TURKEY Reuben. What kind of Reuben is that?! "I'm sorry honey, I messed up then," he says, not realizing that I don't really eat turkey sandwiches. He offers me his chicken salad sandwich (how sweet of him), but by then, I gave up on dinner. Oh, well. At least my headache is gone.

(Funny thing is that the obsessive part of me will dwell on this Reuben sandwich till I actually get the one I want...maybe tomorrow.)

On the scrappy front, I finally got to see the August kit from Scrapologie and it's full of great stuff! Check it out! I've been wanting to play with the Love, Elsie line so now I can scrap away...

On Saturday, my friend Damaris is teaching a class at her house using the Heidi Swapp playing cards. I can't wait! I love all the goodies that she always has and I'm sure that her class will be loads of fun...

That's all for now. Happy scrapping!

Shocking and sad

Wow! I was so sad and shocked to hear about the bridge collapse in Minneapolis last night. What a terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone that was somehow affected by this. I saw Cathy Z.'s blog (I immediately thought about her since she lives in MN) and her husband drives on this bridge every single day. Thankfully, they are all safe. I also thought about my old friends from Target Headquarters. This is just devastating.

Hugs to all.

Happy Hump Day!

It's Wednesday, otherwise known as hump day, and I got some happy mail this week! Yippee! I received my It Kit Studio August kit, which I thought would bring more goodies in it, but it's still very pretty... I also received my Work in Progress kit and WOW! Trish does a great job of putting it all together and you get lots of very cool goodies! I love it! Here's a peek at my add-on kit from Work in Progress, including the little birdie stamp from Catslife Press:

On a separate note, I took an ASSESS test at work because I'm part of a Change in Leadership team at my company and I also participated in an all-day workshop that was quite interesting. I really enjoyed all of the insight and interaction. From my ASSESS test, the results showed that I am thoughtful, prefer structure, detail-oriented, trusting, outgoing, assertive, imaginative, enjoy multi-tasking, good at coaching and developing others, I need to be liked by most, and like to be recognized. Conversely, I am apparently too pessimistic and sensitive when it comes to frustration tolerance. It goes into further details, but I thought it was pretty interesting overall. Definitely food for thought...

Later...
